Alex Dupkin, a 26-year-old photographer and social media content creator from Seaford, New York, is turning his passion for visual storytelling, surfing, and branding into a growing creative business. Recently launching his own photography and content company in March, Dupkin is focused on expanding his client base, building his brand identity, and eventually traveling the world creating content for clients across industries.
Although his business is still in its early stages, Dupkin’s journey into entrepreneurship began years earlier during his time in college. There, he first developed an interest in creative branding and digital marketing when he and his cousin started a clothing brand just before the COVID-19 pandemic. That experience introduced him to design, promotion, and social media strategy—skills that would later shape his career path.
“I became interested in college when I created a clothing brand with my cousin right before COVID,” Dupkin said. That early project sparked a deeper interest in creative work and set the foundation for his future in photography and content creation.
Following that experience, Dupkin began doing freelance creative work, building up his portfolio and experimenting with different styles of content production. As his skills developed, he realized he wanted something more structured and recognizable than freelance gigs. That motivation led him to create his own brand name and formally launch his photography and content business.
“I had been doing freelance work and now I wanted to have a brand name,” he said, explaining his decision to take his work more seriously and build a professional identity around it.
The name of his company reflects his personal interests and lifestyle. Dupkin drew inspiration from his love of surfing, combining that passion with his creative freelance background. The result was a brand identity that connects beach culture, movement, and storytelling through visual media. For him, photography is not just about taking pictures—it’s about capturing moments that feel alive and authentic.
While Dupkin is passionate about his work, building a business from the ground up has not been without challenges. Like many young entrepreneurs, one of his biggest obstacles has been gaining visibility and attracting consistent clients.
“The biggest challenge is getting my brand out there for many companies to see,” he said. Despite producing work he is proud of, Dupkin noted that standing out in a competitive digital market requires constant effort, networking, and self-promotion.
Before launching his current company, Dupkin also gained firsthand experience in entrepreneurship by running a small beachwear business while in college. Although the venture was short-lived, it gave him early insight into what it takes to manage a brand and operate a business.
“I ran a small beachwear company in college, but that did not last long,” he said. However, he emphasized that even though the business did not succeed, it helped him understand branding, marketing, and the realities of entrepreneurship.
Today, social media plays a central role in Dupkin’s business strategy. Platforms like Instagram and short-form video apps are his primary tools for sharing content and reaching potential clients. Without traditional advertising or large-scale marketing budgets, social media has become his most powerful method of exposure.
“Social media is my only way of getting my work out to the world,” he explained. Through consistent posting and engaging visual content, Dupkin continues to build his audience and attract new opportunities.
Among his favorite types of content to create are short-form beach videos, especially those involving surfing. These projects allow him to combine his personal interests with his professional work, resulting in content that feels both authentic and visually engaging.
“I love creating short-form beach content, like surfing,” he said, highlighting the connection between his lifestyle and creative output.
As his client list begins to grow, Dupkin has already worked with a variety of individuals and businesses. One of his favorite clients so far is Viking Builders, a construction company owned by one of his close friends. Working with a familiar client allowed him to explore professional photography in a real-world business setting while maintaining a strong personal connection.
“My favorite client is Viking Builders, which is one of my best friend’s construction companies,” he said.
Despite the challenges of building a new brand, Dupkin maintains a strong sense of confidence in his work. He describes himself as someone who stays focused and committed to his craft without letting doubt interfere with his progress.
“I never really doubt myself. I love creating content,” he said, emphasizing that his passion keeps him motivated through the ups and downs of entrepreneurship.
When asked how he balances creativity with the business side of his company, Dupkin keeps his answer simple: he prioritizes creativity as much as possible while still handling the responsibilities of running a business.
“I try to be as creative as possible,” he said.
His tools of the trade are also an important part of his success. While many creators rely on a variety of equipment, Dupkin points to one essential item that has supported his work from the beginning: his cameras. These tools allow him to capture the high-quality visuals that define his brand.
“My cameras have been the most important,” he said.
For those hoping to follow in his footsteps, Dupkin offers straightforward advice rooted in persistence and self-belief. He encourages aspiring creators to stay focused and trust their process, even when results are not immediate.
“Just put your head down and believe in your work,” he said.
Although his business officially launched in March and is still developing, Dupkin already has clear long-term goals. Right now, he is focused on acquiring new clients and continuing to grow his portfolio. However, his ambitions extend beyond local work.
In the future, he hopes to expand his business to a global level, combining travel with content creation. “To acquire new clients and hopefully travel the world creating content,” he said.
As the digital world continues to expand, creators like Alex Dupkin represent a new generation of entrepreneurs who are building careers through social media, creativity, and personal branding. While his journey is just beginning, his focus, adaptability, and passion suggest that his brand may continue to grow well beyond Long Island.
